Practice Areas
I've always been a fighter, particularly for the underdog. I've spent years being a voice for those who have been ignored and refused help when they needed it most.
We'll work together to help you get a second chance, especially if you were in the wrong place at the wrong time, or you did not have the family support and privilege to stay out of the system built to oppress you.
We help you get the best outcome available, so you can move on with your life as quickly as possible. This is why so many clients come back for help. I care about you as a person and if I put my faith in you, then I believe you can also put your faith in me.
Just one thing first, though - Clients often think they know what is most important to their case. There might be times when what you want is actually not in your best interest. When I make a recommendation about how to move forward in your case, it's because I care about getting your case resolved the best way, on the first try.
My previous experience in the DA's office allowed me to see behind the curtain, to know what a prosecutor is thinking - what their mindset is. My job as your criminal defense attorney is to help find common ground, solutions and compromises. That doesn't always mean taking a plea. What it means is taking the best path to the best outcome.
If they want a conviction, they're going to have to fight me for it.

Testimonials
I chose criminal defense and police accountability work because two of my family members were incarcerated when I was a freshman in college.
They had some business disputes, one with a retired police officer, who I believe used his position to exaggerate a civil dispute into a criminal prosecution.
My family members were forced to accept plea bargains due to failing health and inadequate care in jail. They couldn't afford bail and had overburdened public defenders representing them.
After their release, they struggled with maintaining steady employment and homelessness. It took forever to get Section 8 housing, and that's just the tip of the iceberg.
My commitment to this work is about making sure no one has to go through what my family members did, what our family did, as a result of a broken system. You shouldn't either.
Reach out to discuss your case, and if we agree to work together, I will do whatever I can to get the best available outcome for you and will treat you with the respect and compassion you deserve, no matter what the charge is against you.
